critical thinking and effective reading

Attending this workshop reassure me and concrete my understanding of critical thinking. The lecture gave us good examples to understand what is critical thinking. She also covered tips for effective academic reading to succeed in assignments and research projects.

My highlight from the workshop

  • No reference means can not check the evidence
  • Writing a note is reviewing
  • Critical thinking – to examine the evidence, contest knowledge and practice.
  • Challenging/contesting existing knowledge and practice as a scholar.

The lecturer shows us a page Aspirations for University of Auckland Graduates. I was very impressed, and I am proud of myself as I am part of this, and my goal could be to show leadership as a Japanese immigrant ECE educator one day working for the benefit of both my country Aotearoa New Zealand and Japan.
